Jr. 1st Sem Exam Process
Grading Scale: 21st Century Standard Based
The semester assessment will consist of individual/group portfolio presentations that replicate the IB Internal and External assessment process.
All 11 MPS Learning Targets are implemented in this class and assessed through the IB Internal assessment process.
How the Critique Works
1. Juniors will present everything they have made in their first year of studio.
2. This is a presentation… candidates will group their artwork along with their IWB throughout the classroom so the work being presented is in view (as shown in the pictures below)
3. At this point in the process students/candidates need to have completed 5 works and all works need to be uploaded to weebly site (student website portfolio)...the website is presented during the critique and is crucial to the process.
Critique Questions
a. Have you specialized in a particular area or medium? i. For what reason?
b. Which do you consider to be your best work and why?
c. What were your problems in studio work? ii. How did you attempt to solve them?_
iii. What are you trying to express in particular works of art?
iv. What gave you the idea?
v. To what sources did you refer?
d. How do you feel the culture of certain parts of the world have influenced your work?
e. How do your IWB’s trace the development toward the final product?
f. Have you specialized in a particular area or medium? For what reason?
g. Which do you consider to be your best work technically? Why?
h. What were your problems in studio work? What are they and how did you attempt to solve them?
i. What are you trying to express in particular works of art?
j. What gave you the idea?
k. To what sources did you refer?
l. What artist have you used as inspiration?
m. How do you feel the culture of certain parts of the world have influenced your work?
n. Did you have any interesting failures?
o. What is the meaning of the piece?
p. Have any of your feelings changed since the beginning of making the piece?
q. What grabs your attention in the work and why?
r. How did you apply the medium? (for example: are the brush strokes thick or thin, how was the paint applied, etc)
